Every term, between 15 and 17 students from Uppsala University work as Student Guides at Gustavianum. They are recruited from all academic disciplines and their combined expertise spans a wide range of subjects. By offering tours led by students with different backgrounds, the Museum provides fresh perspectives on its collections.
The Student Guides lead the normal tours at the weekend: in English at 13.00, and in Swedish at 15.00. The guided tours are designed by the students themselves and focus on a limited number of objects and particular themes, reflecting the Student Guide’s study area and interests. Prior booking is not required and the guided tour is included in the normal Museum entry charge. Student Guides also conduct tours for pre-booked groups and take part in Gustavianum’s extensive programme of special events.
During the spring term of 2019, there are 15 Student Guides attached to Gustavianum. Their areas of study include civil engineering physics, speech therapy, and the masters programme in modern languages
