Classical archaeology

Gustavianum’s archaeological collections are the result of several generations of Swedish archaeology field work in the Mediterranean. We have objects from Egypt, from Greece and from Rom. We have coins, textiles, work of art, sculpture and items for daily use. The collections are partly documented and digitalised, but we continuously work to make the objects accessible. Currently two such projects target specific parts of our classical archaeology collections: digitalizing coins from the Roman Republic, and documenting the finds from the archaeological work done in Asine in the 1920s. There are links to these and other projects that use our collections on the left-hand side of this page.
